Effect of finite metallic grating size on Rayleigh anomaly-surface plasmon polariton resonances.
Rayleigh anomalies (RAs) and surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) on subwavelength metallic gratings play pivotal roles in many interesting phenomena such as extraordinary optical transmission. In this work, we present a theoretical analysis of the effect of finite metallic grating size on RA-SPP resonances based on the combination of rigorous coupled wave analysis and finite aperture diffraction....
متن کاملAsymmetric half-cone/nanohole array films with structural and directional reshaping of extraordinary optical transmission.
Structured films with periodic arrays of nanoholes covered by half-cone shells are fabricated via a simple and efficient colloidal lithography method. The designed films show strong polarization dependence in optical transmission. By decreasing the height of half-cone shells the peak shifts and this shift varies strongly for different orthogonal polarizations. Furthermore, the three-dimensional...

We study the scattering of a partially coherent electromagnetic beam from metallic nanocylinders and analyze the effects of plasmon resonances on the coherence and polarization properties of the optical near field. We employ the coherent-mode representation for the incident field and solve the scattering problem independently for each mode by using a boundary-integral method. Our results show t...
متن کاملA method to design transmission resonances through subwavelength apertures based on designed surface plasmons.
A plasmonic metamaterial is proposed for which an array of subwavelength apertures is pierced into a metallic foil whose one flat surface has been made with periodic rectangle holes of finite depth. Designed surface plasmons sustained by the holes are explored when the size and spacing of the holes are much smaller than those of the apertures. The transmission property of electromagnetic waves ...

Enhanced transmissions through a gold film with arrays of subwavelength holes are theoretically studied, employing the rigid full vectorial three dimensional finite difference time domain method. Influence of air-holes shape to the transmission is firstly studied, which confirms two different resonances attributing to the enhanced transmission: the localized waveguide resonance and periodic sur...
